He graduated from the Medical School of AUTh, completed his Residency Training in Urology (1998) and got his Ph.D. (2004) at the Urology Department of AUTh where he worked as a Scientific Associate of the Neurourology, Urodynamics and Andrology Clinics (1998-2000). He was Registrar B’ at the Urology Department of the General Hospital of Halkidiki (2000-2002), and was awarded a Fellowship from the European Urological Scholarship Programme for his research at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery & Hammersmith Hospital in London. After completing his Fellowship and for the next 3,5 years, he went on working as a Clinical Researcher at the Institute of Neurology, University College London (UCL). His collaboration with UCL continued, and he got elected Lecturer Emeritus (2009-2012). He was elected Lecturer of AUTh (2006), Assistant Professor of Neurourology (2011), Associate Professor (2016) and Professor 2019 of Urology-Neurourology, AUTh. He has been the Head Researcher in a number of multi-centre trials and research protocols. He has chaired many scientific sessions in international conferences and received a number of best oral presentation awards in Hellenic and International Conferences. In 2008, he organized the 1st European Consensus Meeting on the Use of Botulinum Toxin in Urology. Having received more than 4.500 international literature citations, he has published 82 articles in PubMed, and received the Award for the Best Publication 2004 in “British Journal of Urology International”. He is an Editorial Board Member of “European Urology”,“Neurourology & Urodynamics” and “British Journal of Urology International”. He is a Reviewer in 12 international scientific journals and has been honored with the Award for the Best Reviewer on Basic Research in the Journal of Urology (2011). He was President of the Committee on Neurogenic Urinary and Faecal Incontinence in International Consultation on Incontinence 2016, and Visiting Professor within the context of a Program of European Universities aiming at training young researchers upon issues of Functional Urology.
